Today was relatively low-key in terms of days. Heck, it's been a low-key existence for a while. Yesterday I did something a little fancy and put on some makeup for my date-turned-double-date with Kelsea and Aaron and Chuck. We went to this brewhouse/pub called Natty Greene's and I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the veggie burger that I originally wanted to get. The substituted black-bean burger was spicier but still delicious. Afterwords, Chuck and I bought two slices of cheesecake and snuck them into the movie theater. We saw The Happening with Zooey Deschanel and I was let down. Not enough to consider it a waste of a movie experience, but the acting was a little too dry and awkward to please me. It really makes me want to watch The Village, so I think Chuck and I are going to have a movie night in the near future. :) The cheesecake was delicious.
Today, despite being low-key, was annoying. The heat was aggravating and I was completely happy to finally return home and snuggle for a while. I also got to try out the new grapefruit soap, shampoo, and conditioner I had purchased. I bought the soap independantly from the rest when I was close to running out and bought the shampoo and conditioner yesterday. They all clean very well and make my skin feel good, but I don't smell like grapefruit. :( I should go buy some grapefruit deodorant or mouthwash next, perhaps.
Using my prophetic skills, I forsee that tonight is going to consist of a foray into previously-ignored video games.
I updated to Ubuntu version 6.10 last night, after having 6.06 for more than a year. I realized how old Dapper was when I was looking at the various releases and saw that 7.04 came out last April. I figured I would update to the latest version, because I'm planning on either wiping OSX completely or dual-booting when I obtain my MacBook for college this Christmas. All the documentation for installing Ubuntu on a MacBook refers to 7.04 so I thought it would be a good idea to get used to it in the mean time. I'll probably update from this version in a few days, but I'm just playing around right now to see what's different. Really, all the changes just look cosmetic, because all I do is surf the internet, listen to music, chat, and use Photoshop.
Anyway, I'm kinda scared my dad is horribly mad at me and is going to inquire as to what my exploits last night were and why exactly I didn't come home until eight in the morning. I mean, it's not like I was doing anything out of the ordinary, but I feel so guilty when I don't call him and just shake all responsibility. We have to ride in the car together to see if we can get my non-functioning cell phone fixed and I don't want to face his questions.
I feel like I haven't been on the internet in forever. It's really just because I've been at Kearstin's since Wednesday night, doing all kinds of birthday things. Her party was nice. Jorge and Erin and Samia were there, and we cooked breakfast foods that were delicious. For the third year in a row, her present from me has been absent, because of either ill-planned ordering dates or just general slowness from the post office. Of course, as soon as I get home today, it's in the mail. Whatever.
Today was Samia's party, and Kearstin, Samia, Brooke, Charles, and I ate Chinese food and hung out at Krankies cafe/bar for like an hour and a half. I should have taken pictures while I was there, because this place is amazing, but you get a picture of my sister's new puppy instead. But, seriously, this place is amazing: they have San Pellegrino on tap, serve fresh-baked bagels with goat cheese from a local farm, and brew all their coffees on-site. Very leftist, very independent, very cool. Previously I was too scared to go in because I thought it would be way too hipster for me, but as soon as we walked in the guy behind the counter gave us a huge smile and said hi. It's pretty close to where I'll be having morning classes next year, so I'll probably stop in after class. Anyway, on August 19th, they're having a F.R.E.E. collective forum on sex education, and I think I'm going to invite Brittany and Chuck (and Cordell?) to go with me. I'm going to skip the ones about free trade and the Iraq war.
Also, my phone is dead and I bought some incense. My dad says we're going to go see what we can do about it on Monday, but I'm going to pressure him into taking me tomorrow because Charles and I are hanging out on Monday. It's not like the Cingular store closes on Sunday or anything. He wants to see if the phone is under warranty, but it's like three years old and has had three owners so I doubt it. I just better get a new phone, because my sister has ruined about three or four of her phones in the past four years, and she's gotten brand-spanking-new ones every time. This is the first one I've killed!
