It feels good to be on the internet. I'm listening to music, downloading pirated proprietary software, chatting on AIM, and all that good stuff! I was studying for my AP Government and Politics exam, but that lasted for almost-exactly fifty minutes. Akwete is doing a really good job of lulling me into what I'm sure is a false sense of security about this thing: the released exam questions we got today were pie. If I had seen these out of the context of the official College Board exam paper, I would have thought.. well.. I don't know. They were just really easy.
Anyway, I'm getting my hair cut again tomorrow. This is occurring because of what happened this morning: I didn't fitter my time away on Feministing like usual and actually spent time doing my hair and it still annoyed me. It was like, "this is it? This is so boring!" So I made an appointment. So fickle!
Since this has just turned into a huge news ticker post, there's going to be a craft fair at the Werehouse / Krankies on Friday and Saturday. Charles and I are planning to go on Saturday morning which will be fun. :) I'm such a sucker for hand-made goods, especially when they are hand-made by other people.
As for the rest of this week, I hope it goes by fast enough. The top 50 seniors banquet thing is this Thursday and even though no one else is excited I am. I never go to thinks like that because my parents never wanted to, but this time Chuck's coming with me which will be super fun even if I can't eat any of the food. Dressing up is fun, too!
ps. Billy! Where are you?

I got my hair cut this morning, yay. No one could really notice but I like the bangs a helluva lot more now that they're not down to my nose and, yes, my hair actually looks slightly healthy with the dead and split ends cut off.
Wow, I'm feeling really illiterate right now. It's more like my mind and feelings and thoughts are racing all over the place and I can't form them into coherent sentences or even clauses. I need to get some clothes done I need to write in my journal I need to I need to I need to! Before six when I go to Erin's for a delicious something pasta.
But I love how peaceful the house is before anyone else gets home. Kelsea and I revealed to each other our opposite ways of thinking on the subject. She hates being home alone, I revel in it.
UGH this whole freaking update is just really annoying and the only reason I'm actually posting it is for the picture because Chuck said he wants to see my hair.

I got a new phone. It's an LG phone made for AT&T, and I think it's pretty nice. Well, it looks nice on the outside, anyway, which is all that anyone does anything for in the first place. My old razr phone (which was more than two years old) suddenly lost the ability to receive input from the buttons, which was pretty critical (in my opinion) to the whole point of the thing. But this phone is pretty cute, and it has a spot for a "microSD" memory card, so I think I might buy some cheap 512mb one and put a few songs on it for ringtones. The user manual is pretty vague when it comes to everything, except for the fact that you cant use "full length" songs as your ringtone. I guess I just need to figure out the specifications.
I updated to Ubuntu version 6.10 last night, after having 6.06 for more than a year. I realized how old Dapper was when I was looking at the various releases and saw that 7.04 came out last April. I figured I would update to the latest version, because I'm planning on either wiping OSX completely or dual-booting when I obtain my MacBook for college this Christmas. All the documentation for installing Ubuntu on a MacBook refers to 7.04 so I thought it would be a good idea to get used to it in the mean time. I'll probably update from this version in a few days, but I'm just playing around right now to see what's different. Really, all the changes just look cosmetic, because all I do is surf the internet, listen to music, chat, and use Photoshop.
I feel like I've been neglecting the internet lately, but that's just because I've been having horrible menstrual cramps (it's placebo week!) and I've been laying in bed listening to music. I've almost decided that Rasputina is my favorite band ever, because I can listen to pretty much anything by them and love it, but that applies to a lot of bands that I like. Anyway, the open house for Glenn is in two weeks, and it seems like forever. I'm always one of those nerdy kids that can't wait for school to get back in to 1) have something to do during the day and 2) get back in some sort of routine for living. But then again, my class schedules generally include some sort of free time and interesting classes, so that doesn't help summer's case. The Career Center's (some appendage of Forsyth technical community college which offers advanced courses that Glenn doesn't) open house is on the 23rd, and Chuck has something called an "orientation" for "college" (whatever that is) on that day but he still better be able to go with me. I've never had classes there, and all the people scare me. I can only hope my leg hair grows out fully before then. Right now it's like half-an-inch long and almost stands straight up. I mean, you can't really tell unless the light hits it, but still. Having razor burn from feeling compelled to shave because of society's habit of deciding what you want for you sucks a lot more. Of course, I'm not trying to say anything about friends of mine who shave their legs and like it, but I don't. :)

So I dyed my hair the other night. Maybe it was last night. Actually, I think it was. I used Manic Panic's Hot Hot Pink dye, which looks absolutely dark magenta in the bottle, and let it sit on my hair for thirty minutes. Now, Manic Panic is a semi-permanent vegetable-based dye, which is a lot weaker than the stuff you find at Walgreens. Usually when I'm using this stuff, I bleach the crap out of my hair first, and then let it sit on overnight. This time, I just put it on top of my washed hair, and let it do its stuff for thirty minutes. It washed out well enough, and it turned out the way you see in the top-left picture. Not much different than the color my hair was before, if more pink and vibrant. I thought it was alright, but I would have to see what it would look like after a good wash and style the next day.
Turns out, I didn't like the way it looked when I styled it. Way too angsty-middle-schooler for me. No prob, though, I figured. I'll scrub my head a few good times and just dye it again. Plus, I didn't want everyone coming up to me at the Order of the Phoenix showing asking me if I was supposed to be Tonks. No. Snape and Lupin are meant to be together, not Lupin and that weird nose girl.

I read up in a few respectible Livejournal communities that Manic Panic washes out easily, and to just scrub your head with shampoo under hot water until the water ran clear. Heck, I've used the stuff before, and that's the gospel truth: you just need to wash your head a few good times and it's gone. So, I try that, and tons of liquid bubblegum starts pouring off my head, and no matter how many times I lather up, even the lather is dark pink. I figure it's time for some more desperate measures. I get the bright idea to mix dish soap and baking soda to take this stuff out.. and take it out it does. It was also oddly satisfying to mix up the two and make a paste, but anyway. My bathroom looks like someone murdered Kirby.
But my hair is still not rid of the dye. In fact, it looks even more pink than when I started this whole crazy experiment! I feel like I should be at a Slipknot concert, and my dad asks me to go pick up some takeout. I do, and use the leftover money to go to Walgreens and search out a nice dirty blonde color to hopefully bleach out this mess.
I slather the stuff on my head, and it almost immediately evaporates the pink with the awesome chemicals from that $9 box of hair color. My scalp also cries out because of the harsh treatment it's had today: hot water, baking soda, Dawn soap, and now bleach. Oh well it'll get over it.
Twenty-five minutes later, and yes! I am victorius! It turned out even better than I had hoped, actually, with the crown of my head being a little reddish and the roots being dark enough so that when my hair starts to grow in, they won't be that visible.
Hair dye and acrylic nails are two things that are so not environmentally sound that I love anyway. I mean, who even knows what the crap in those boxes is? Why hasn't my hair fallen out yet? Why doesn't my scalp flake off? Oh well.
The moral of this story: there is no way to look like a mature, intelligent individual with magenta hair.

I did have a lot of pictures (around 48) that I wanted to resize and finally get off my camera, but of course I never charged the batteries so they're dead. So you get this picture of my cat. (and it's a really good reason that explains why I didn't resize them, right?)
Anyway, Shana's new haircut looks really cute. I doubt she's posted pictures, though.
