Guess it's too late for me to go back to sleep, huh? Oh well.
I didn't sleep very well, as per the past three nights or so. I wake up at about 5am and keep waking up every hour or so until I finally decide to pull myself out of bed. Last night, Chuck slept with me, and he had to wake up at 8:45 to go over to Wake so that didn't help. I wish we could have cuddled longer. :( It's still arctic in my house, and my blankets are in the wash due to human error so we had to huddle for warmth. Now I'm wearing his jacket and I'm under some baby blanket.
Here is some beautiful music to start your day off with while I procrastinate more and more with leaving the house to get food for my kitties.
Kearstin and I are going to see The (new) X-Files movie tonight and I am pumped. Here is an article about how much of a badass feminist idol Scully is.

Today was relatively low-key in terms of days. Heck, it's been a low-key existence for a while. Yesterday I did something a little fancy and put on some makeup for my date-turned-double-date with Kelsea and Aaron and Chuck. We went to this brewhouse/pub called Natty Greene's and I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the veggie burger that I originally wanted to get. The substituted black-bean burger was spicier but still delicious. Afterwords, Chuck and I bought two slices of cheesecake and snuck them into the movie theater. We saw The Happening with Zooey Deschanel and I was let down. Not enough to consider it a waste of a movie experience, but the acting was a little too dry and awkward to please me. It really makes me want to watch The Village, so I think Chuck and I are going to have a movie night in the near future. :) The cheesecake was delicious.
Today, despite being low-key, was annoying. The heat was aggravating and I was completely happy to finally return home and snuggle for a while. I also got to try out the new grapefruit soap, shampoo, and conditioner I had purchased. I bought the soap independantly from the rest when I was close to running out and bought the shampoo and conditioner yesterday. They all clean very well and make my skin feel good, but I don't smell like grapefruit. :( I should go buy some grapefruit deodorant or mouthwash next, perhaps.
Using my prophetic skills, I forsee that tonight is going to consist of a foray into previously-ignored video games.
Siddarth and I presented our project on globalization today. He made a Powerpoint last night, spur of the moment, so I basically just stood there and talked statistics for five seconds. We should get a good grade on it, though. It's really nice not having that hanging over my head anymore.
Yesterday I went to Dr. Morgan at Piedmont Psychiatric Associates. She diagnosed me as having unipolar depression with melancholic features and gave me Wellbutrin XL. I talked to my dad about it and he says it's up to me whether I want to get therapy or not; I'm on the fence. I've had therapists in the past and they were fun.. I like talking about myself and having people listen. However, it seems like a waste of time unless they're going to do something about some behavioral problems I have. I'll probably try it out for a while, I mean, it'll be summer. Something to do would be nice. I'm really skeptical about the efficacy of this medication, though. I've tried others before with really no improvement. I got into the state of mind that these depressive episodes were caused by people and things rather than some chemical imbalance. While it's nice to think that some miracle drug can fix it, it really seems too ingrained... or maybe that's me being a pessimist.
It seems like forever since I've posted. This past weekend seemed like an eternity but ephemeral all the same. Ephemeral? I'm starting to sound like Zooey Deschanel. Speaking of her, I really want to see the new M. Night Shyamalan movie The Happening. But that doesn't come out until June 13th so we're going to see The Strangers this weekend instead. The latter is your basic, run-of-the-mill horror movie but with Joanna Newsom's music. Did I mention we're going on Sunday? And that I'll have nothing to do all weekend so my extroverted persona is probably going to go into hibernation? Yeah.
I also made cookies.
And if Chuck would come see me ever during the week I would make fudge brownies. But I guess not.
Anyway, I have more chill time again today. I even got home earlier because I wasn't sidetracked by buying sea salt from health stores. I'm also supposed to get Kearstin and me some Subway before I go back to Glenn today, and she drew me this simultaneously cute and vicious-looking sub with a list of all the stuff she wanted on it. Three kinds of meat and pickles. Not surprisingly, I don't eat any of that!
Her and I are spending some funtime together tomorrow and I'm going to be loving all over her kitty. His name is Ash for short and maybe like.. Ashereon or something for real? It's a demon's name. She just adopted him and he is a sweetheart; very friendly and playful and not at all crazed like my kitten. He loves being petted! It's so cute! =^O^=
Anyway, I'm going to convince her to go to the library with me so I can procure my huge stack o' books for Spring break reading. I really want to explore more Dostoevsky, and Kafka, and there are some scifi novels by Vonnegut and Wells I want to read. Also, I think I'm going to re-read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde because the last time I read that was in the eighth grade and it's seriously one of my favorite novels of all time. I also really feel like seeing a movie, so maybe we'll do that too. It's too exciting to actually have plans for once! (stfu Chuck we never have actual plans aside from Chipotle)
Oh yeah, last night we saw Cloverfield. It was pretty good for a free movie. :)
Speaking of cool stuff, Scott and I both have been lusting over some digital SLR cameras lately. I finally found the one that I want to have in my life: the Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Ohhh. I would brag about the specs but it's useless! It's just awesome! Too bad it costs like $600 and my 35mm SLR cost like $190. :|
But yeah, Chuck totally got some free movie passes and stuff for the Grand in Winston-Salem. And he got it right when he said that I'm more excited about eating the popcorn than seeing Cloverfield. But STILL how exciting. When we usually see movies, we go to the $2 theater and sneak in water and gas-station candy. (No, I'm not knocking the $2 theater by any means! It's the premier place to see movies six months after they come out!) So I'm pretty excited about Friday. Plus a 4.5-day weekend is awesome, too.
PS. Emmy Cicierega totally composed that awesome camera image.
Anyway, I'm just waiting for this load of laundry to dry so I can go over to Kearstin's apartment and watch The Ten Commandments. Have any of you guys seen that movie? It's pretty amazing for a Biblical movie made in 1954.
Show us your favorite doctor.
It's kinda weird, but in this picture, he really reminds me of what Oyster from Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby would look like. BTW for those of you into satiric-horror novels, that's a good book.
Anyway, last night, I watched a plethora of movies on television. Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, The Birds, and Brigadoon. It was Hitchcock night on AMC. (not that Brigadoon is an Alfred Hitchcock movie...)
But I think the movie fuckin' ruled. The special effects were gorgeous, the writers did a good job of incorporating direct quotes from the book (take the Occulmency scenes for example) and all the new characters were well-cast. Then again, they kept that freaking made-up character Nigel from the fourth movie, and Tonks had long hair and it looked pretty bad. It was a pretty terribly movie, as far as movies go, because it was fast-paced and basically a montage of things that happened in the book. They didn't explain at all what was going on, besides Voldemort is evil and Harry is good but a whiny piece of crap. And Kingsly is the token black guy.
I'm sure I would have hated it if I wasn't such a huge fan of the books, or more importantly, all of the characters. Well, not all of them, but the ones I don't really like were kinda shoved aside, and the ones I love were played wonderfully. Snape, for example, was fabulous. Lucius was brilliant, too, and looked a lot sexier than he usually does. I think it was the fitted cassock underneath his robes. Luna was perfect! Evanna Lynch was amazing! They also totally played up the Harry/Luna bit with the Thestrals, instead of having Hagrid teach a lesson on them. That was a welcome change, in my opinion, as a secret Harry/Luna shipper.
Anyway, I'm pretty tired, considering I woke up before 11am. I also cannot decide what I'm going to do with my Snape doll.. so I think I'm going to carry it around in my purse for a while until I get tired of taking it out and admiring it. My mom made fun of him because his face is ugly. :( It just makes me love him more!
